Som tam, traditional Thai papaya salad, prices and reviews from Helsinki Thai restaurants. Som tam is less common on menus than pad thai. Price confirmed for 23 restaurants in the sample.
Som tam: regional variations
Som tam comes in different forms across Thailand. The Bangkok style is saltier and sweeter; the Isan style (Northeastern Thailand) features fermented fish sauce (pla ra) and local herbs. Both styles appear in Helsinki: Yuwa's Laos Style follows the Isan tradition.

Methodology
The index is based on public sources: Wolt storefronts, restaurants' own websites, Google Maps ratings, Tripadvisor listings. Data collection date: 19 May 2026. Base version included (typically chicken or vegan). Wolt prices include the delivery margin. The value score combines rating and price index: same formula as the pad thai index.
Next release
The index is compiled annually. The summer 2027 release expands to 10 anchor dishes and six cities (Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa, Tampere, Turku, Oulu).
