Pad Kee Mao: "drunken noodles"
Pad Kee Mao is often translated as "drunken noodles". The name's origin is disputed: one story says it was made for late-night arrivals using whatever was in the kitchen. Hallmarks: plenty of Thai basil, multiple chillies, garlic, fish sauce, sometimes crispy vegetables. Spicy and aromatic.

Methodology
The index is based on public sources: Wolt storefronts, restaurants' own websites, Google Maps ratings, Tripadvisor listings. Data collection date: 20 May 2026. Base version included (typically chicken, vegan when available). Prices include Wolt's delivery margin. Sample is 34 Thai restaurants in Helsinki; only restaurants where the dish appears as a main course are included. The value score combines rating and price index: same formula as the pad thai index.
Next release
The index is compiled annually. The summer 2027 release expands to 10 anchor dishes across six cities (Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa, Tampere, Turku, Oulu).
